Sweden's festival calendar runs from early June through mid-August, anchored by Sweden Rock on the Blekinge coast and stretching through folk-forest indie weekends, a reggae gathering on Öland, free city-wide programmes and a growing club and electronic scene. Here are ten festivals worth building a Swedish summer around in 2026, from the massive to the ones with a cult following.

## 1\. Sweden Rock Festival, Norje: 3–6 June

Four days of rock and metal on the coast of Blekinge, roughly 180 km east of Malmö. [Sweden Rock Festival](https://www.swedenrock.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is the anchor event of the Swedish festival summer, drawing over 30,000 festival goers to the village of Norje in Sölvesborg. The 2026 headliners were Iron Maiden, Volbeat and Bring Me the Horizon, supported by more than 100 bands across the long weekend, including The Offspring, BABYMETAL, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Saxon, Tom Morello, Foreigner, Helloween and Yngwie Malmsteen.

The site sits on a permanent festival ground with a well-organised camping setup, family area and glamping options. It has the infrastructure of a venue that does this every year and it shows. Volt runs Event Lockers at three locations on the grounds and self-service charging stations across the site. See the [Volt Sweden Rock guide](https://resources.getvolt.dk/festivals/sweden-rock-guide/) for what is available and where to find it.

Genre: Rock and metal. Dates: 3–6 June 2026 (completed). Venue: Norje, Sölvesborg. Info: [swedenrock.com](https://www.swedenrock.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 2\. Öland Roots: 8–11 July

[Öland Roots](https://olandroots.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is Sweden's longest-running reggae festival, held annually since 2004 at the Sandbergen festival site on southern Öland. The 2026 edition returned to a three-day format after a shorter run in recent years, with Jamaican acts Luciano, Jah Mason and Linval Thompson topping a bill built mostly around Sweden's home reggae scene. Camping is available on site through [the festival's own campground](https://olandroots.com/info/camping?ref=resources.getvolt.dk).

It is a small, community-run event rather than a commercial festival brand, and that is a large part of the appeal: an island setting, a loyal returning crowd and a lineup built on genre knowledge rather than headline names.

Genre: Reggae. Dates: 8–11 July 2026 (completed). Venue: Sandbergen, Mörbylånga, Öland. Info: [olandroots.com](https://olandroots.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 3\. SommarRock Svedala: 9–11 July

A three-day Swedish-language rock and pop festival held at Friluftsbadet in Svedala, just south of Malmö. [SommarRock Svedala](https://www.sommarrock.nu/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) sold out for the first time in its history in 2026, a milestone the organisers noted publicly. The 2026 roster leaned on Swedish acts: The Ark, Molly Sandén, Erik Grönwall, Medina, Liar Thief Bandit and The Poodles, among others.

The festival has a family-friendly, community feel. It is not trying to be Glastonbury. Think summer evening at a lake with good Swedish artists and a crowd that knows every word.

Genre: Swedish rock and pop. Dates: 9–11 July 2026 (completed, sold out). Venue: Friluftsbadet, Svedala. Info: [sommarrock.nu](https://www.sommarrock.nu/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 4\. Norbergfestival, Norberg: 9–11 July

Held at Mimerlaven, an abandoned iron mine site in the small town of Norberg in Västmanland, [Norbergfestival](https://norbergfestival.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is the standout event in Sweden for experimental electronic music and sound art. The 2026 edition ran across more than 80 artists over three days, with programming including live electronic sets, DJ nights, sound installations, workshops and curated strands: an Amplify Sápmi programme and an EMS (Elektronmusikstudion) series marking 45 years of Swedish electronic music heritage.

The setting is unlike any other festival in the country. Performances happen inside former mine shafts, on open-air stages built into the old industrial terrain, and in surrounding woods. Capacity is kept deliberately small, which creates an intimacy that larger events cannot replicate.

Genre: Experimental electronic, techno, sound art. Dates: 9–11 July 2026 (completed). Venue: Mimerlaven, Norberg. Info: [norbergfestival.com](https://norbergfestival.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 5\. Emmabodakalaset, Emmaboda: 24–25 July

[Emmabodakalaset](https://www.emmabodakalaset.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is a music and art festival set in a Småland forest near the town of Emmaboda, built around neon installations and a lineup that mixes Swedish indie, pop and techno acts. The 2026 edition, its fourth, ran acts including Cleo, Les Big Byrd, Felicia Takman, Hästpojken and DISET across the two-day programme.

Camping opened the evening before the festival gates, and the campground and ticket are age-restricted to 18 and over. It is a younger, more compact event than the big-name festivals on this list, closer in spirit to a well-curated indie showcase than a mass-market weekend.

Genre: Indie, pop, techno. Dates: 24–25 July 2026, camping from 23 July (completed). Venue: Neonparken, Rasslebygd, Emmaboda. Info: [emmabodakalaset.se](https://www.emmabodakalaset.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 6\. Storsjöyran, Östersund: 31 July–1 August

[Storsjöyran](https://www.yran.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is held on the shores of Lake Storsjön in Östersund, Jämtland, and is one of the north of Sweden's biggest events. The 2026 edition ran on 31 July and 1 August, with the surrounding Krogstråket bar street open from 24 July for nine days of free entry (paid entry on festival evenings only). The confirmed 2026 lineup included Thomas Stenström, Molly Sandén, Magnus Uggla, Bolaget, The Ark and Orup, among a wider bill spanning pop, rock and Scandinavian singer-songwriter acts.

The festival is set in the middle of the city, not on a peripheral field, which gives it a different atmosphere. The lake is right there.

Genre: Mixed (rock, pop, Scandinavian artists). Dates: 31 July–1 August 2026 (completed), Krogstråket from 24 July. Venue: Östersund city centre, Lake Storsjön. Info: [yran.se](https://www.yran.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 7\. Malmöfestivalen: 7–14 August

Eight days, free entry, no ticket, no registration. [Malmöfestivalen](https://www.malmofestivalen.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) is Scandinavia's largest city festival and has run since 1985\. The 2026 edition runs 7–14 August across Malmö's squares, streets and parks, with close to 900 programme points covering music, dance, theatre and installations. Confirmed acts include Agnes, Angelique Kidjo, Cleo, Einstürzende Neubauten, Sahara Hotnights, Oskar Linnros and Ghanaian Twi-rap artist Ata Kak, alongside comedy and theatre programming. Check the [full programme at malmofestivalen.se](https://www.malmofestivalen.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk), still being added to day by day.

It costs nothing to attend. That is not a small detail.

Genre: Mixed (rock, pop, world, experimental). Dates: 7–14 August 2026 (running now). Venue: City-wide, Malmö. Entry: Free, no registration required. Info: [malmofestivalen.se](https://www.malmofestivalen.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 8\. Arvika Hamnfest: 7–9 August

[Arvika Hamnfest](https://www.tickster.com/se/sv/events/9v59ueylzmfpm5f/2026-08-07/arvika-hamnfest?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) runs across four stages at Olssons Brygga on Arvika's harbourfront in Värmland, with views over Kyrkviken. The 2026 lineup runs about 20 acts including Magnus Uggla, Thomas Stenström, Maja Francis, Agnes and Enforcer, spanning Swedish pop, rock and metal in the same weekend.

It is a smaller-scale, town-festival format: no camping on site, a walkable harbour venue, and a mixed food and bar offering built into the grounds rather than around them.

Genre: Mixed (pop, rock, metal). Dates: 7–9 August 2026 (running now). Venue: Olssons Brygga, Arvika harbour. Info: [tickets and programme via Tickster](https://www.tickster.com/se/sv/events/9v59ueylzmfpm5f/2026-08-07/arvika-hamnfest?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## 9\. Way Out West, Gothenburg: 13–15 August

[Way Out West](https://www.wayoutwest.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) takes place at Slottsskogen, the large urban park in central Gothenburg. The 2026 edition runs 13–15 August and has three of the stronger headline bookings in Sweden this summer: Gorillaz, The Cure and Lorde. The wider lineup includes Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The xx, Four Tet, Moby and Lykke Li.

The festival runs a 100% vegetarian food offering, one of the few events at this scale that does. After the park closes each evening, Stay Out West moves programming into Gothenburg's city centre venues for a club night programme.

Tickets are available at [wayoutwest.se](https://www.wayoutwest.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk). Check that page for current availability; the festival typically sells out in advance.

Genre: Indie, alternative, electronic. Dates: 13–15 August 2026\. Venue: Slottsskogen, Gothenburg. Info: [wayoutwest.se](https://www.wayoutwest.se/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

[Lollapalooza Stockholm](https://www.lollastockholm.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) returns to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium on 14–16 August 2026\. The full lineup had not been officially confirmed at the time of writing. Check [lollastockholm.com](https://www.lollastockholm.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) for artist announcements and ticket details as they are released.

The stadium location puts it in central Stockholm with good transport links, which makes logistics simpler than most festival sites.

Genre: Mixed (pop, rock, electronic). Dates: 14–16 August 2026\. Venue: Stockholm Olympic Stadium. Info: [lollastockholm.com](https://www.lollastockholm.com/?ref=resources.getvolt.dk)

## Practical notes

Most Swedish festivals have bag policies and restrictions on brought-in food and drink. Check the official page for each event before you arrive. Charging infrastructure varies widely between sites. Some larger events have self-service charging stations on site; smaller ones leave festival goers to manage their own power through the weekend.

Volt provides [charging services](https://resources.getvolt.dk/services/charging/) and [Event Lockers](https://resources.getvolt.dk/services/event-lockers/) at a range of festivals across Scandinavia. Check resources.getvolt.dk for service information at specific events.

For what is still ahead once this list wraps in mid-August, see [7 Swedish festivals still ahead in August and September 2026](https://resources.getvolt.dk/articles/swedish-festivals-august-september-2026/), running from a Stockholm Americana weekend through a new folk festival at Skansen in September.
