Here is what actually happens in each stage, and which part is genuinely out of Volt's hands. ## The two clocks: Volt, then your bank When you return a Volt-Charger, Volt's own process is the first clock. The refund gets logged and sent to your card network. That is the part Volt controls and the part the \~14 weekday figure is built around. The second clock starts once the network has your refund: the card network has to route it to your issuing bank, and your bank has to post it to your account. Neither Volt nor any other merchant controls that second half. That is why two festival goers who return their charger at the same booth on the same day can still see the money land on different days. ## What Visa says about its own refund timing Visa's own payment processing documentation is specific about this: once a merchant sends a refund, Visa's network typically transmits it to the issuing bank the same night. Where a clear number exists is from payment processors handling both networks: Stripe's own documentation for refund tracing states that a customer typically sees a card refund **5 to 10 business days** after it is sent, "depending on the bank." That range holds across card networks, Mastercard included, for the same reason as Visa: the network moves the instruction quickly, and the issuing bank sets the actual posting date. ## MobilePay: the fastest of the three, most of the time For festival goers paying with MobilePay rather than a card, Vipps MobilePay's own support page gives a tighter window: refunds normally reach the customer's account within **2 to 3 banking days**, though it can take up to **10 days** depending on the banks involved on both ends of the transfer.
