# SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap at Smukfest 2026: How to Keep Your Speaker Charged All Week

A SOUNDBOKS battery is not built to survive a full week of camp life on one charge, and Smukfest's own camping period runs far longer than any single charge lasts. Volt's **SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap** point solves that: hand in a drained Gen4 battery, walk out with a full one, and repeat as many times as your package allows. It runs from exactly one place at Smukfest, so it pays to know how it works before you need it.

## Why one battery does not make it through the week

SOUNDBOKS states its current battery runs up to 40 hours at mid-volume, dropping to 6 to 8 hours at full volume depending on the speaker model. [↗ soundboks.com](https://soundboks.com/products/the-battery?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) That sounds generous next to a phone, but a camp speaker rarely sits at a careful mid-volume setting for days on end. Warm-up afternoons, pre-parties and late nights push it toward the loud end of that range, and a battery that started the week full can be flat well before the last night. Volt built SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap specifically for that gap: instead of waiting for an outlet that does not exist in a camping field, you trade a dead battery for a charged one and keep playing.

## How SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap works

The mechanics are simple. Book a swap package online before you travel, choosing between three sizes: 4, 7 or 15 swaps, covering anything from a light weekend to a fully loud week. [↗ getvolt.dk](https://getvolt.dk/en-dk/products/soundboks-battery-swap-smukfest-2026?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) Bring your own SOUNDBOKS Gen4 battery, or rent one from Volt (more on that below). When your battery runs flat, walk it to the Volt point, hand it over, and take a fully charged one in return. Repeat up to your package limit for the rest of the festival.

Two rules to know before you book: the service only takes SOUNDBOKS Gen4 batteries, and unused swaps in a package are not refunded. [↗ getvolt.dk](https://getvolt.dk/en-dk/products/soundboks-battery-swap-smukfest-2026?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) Pick the package that matches how hard your camp actually plays, not the biggest number on the page.

## Where to find the Volt point at Smukfest

SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap runs from a single location: KærligHeden. Smukfest's own practical-information page confirms it directly, alongside the three staffed Volt charging points on site: "På KærligHeden kan du også bytte batterier til din Soundboks" (at KærligHeden you can also swap batteries for your Soundboks). [↗ smukfest.dk](https://www.smukfest.dk/praktisk?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) The other two staffed points, at the Sølund entrance and the Stjerne Bar area, plus every self-service charging tower on the campsite, handle phones and powerbanks only, not SOUNDBOKS batteries. If your camp sits away from KærligHeden, plan your swap trips around that single stop rather than assuming the nearest Volt point covers it. Our [full Smukfest charging map](https://resources.getvolt.dk/articles/charging-at-smukfest-2026/) covers every phone and powerbank point and this year's opening hours.

## Own a Gen4 battery, or need to rent one?

Already own a SOUNDBOKS Gen4 battery? Bring it and book a swap package. That is the whole decision.

Do not own one, or your speaker is an older SOUNDBOKS? Volt rents the Gen4 battery itself for the festival, for a rental fee plus a refundable deposit that comes back once you return the battery at Smukfest (current pricing on the product page). [↗ getvolt.dk](https://getvolt.dk/en-dk/products/soundboks-gen4-battery-rental-smukfest-2026?ref=resources.getvolt.dk) One detail worth catching before you book: renting the battery does not automatically include swaps, the SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap package is purchased separately. | Your situation | What to book |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| You own a SOUNDBOKS Gen4 battery | A SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap package (4, 7 or 15 swaps) |
| You own a SOUNDBOKS 2, 3, 4, Go or Mix but not a Gen4 battery | Rent a Gen4 battery, plus a swap package if you want swaps included |
| You only have an original SOUNDBOKS (Gen1 to Gen3 battery) | Not eligible for swap. Use hand-in charging instead, or arrive fully charged |

The Gen4 battery pairs with the SOUNDBOKS 2, 3, 4, Go and Mix, so an older speaker is not automatically shut out, only an older battery is. If your speaker still runs on a Gen1, Gen2 or Gen3 battery, that battery cannot be swapped at all. Renting a Gen4 battery for the trip puts even an older speaker into the swap loop; the only real dead end is sticking with the original battery and hoping it lasts. For that battery, or for phones and regular powerbanks, Volt's [hand-in charging](https://resources.getvolt.dk/articles/what-is-hand-in-charging/) service is the fallback: hand in what you have, collect it charged later.

## Frequently asked questions

Can I swap a Gen1, Gen2 or Gen3 SOUNDBOKS battery at Smukfest?

No. SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap only accepts Gen4 batteries. An older battery has to use hand-in charging instead, or you rent a Gen4 battery for the festival and swap that.

Where exactly do I swap my SOUNDBOKS battery at Smukfest 2026?

KærligHeden is the only Battery Swap point at Smukfest. The festival's own practical-information page names it as the sole location among its Volt charging points.

What happens to swaps I do not use?

They are not refunded, so match the package size (4, 7 or 15 swaps) to how much your camp actually plays rather than buying the largest one by default.

Does renting a Gen4 battery include Battery Swap?

No. Renting the battery makes you eligible to use the service, but a SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap package is booked and paid for separately.

How long does a SOUNDBOKS battery actually last?

SOUNDBOKS quotes up to 40 hours at mid-volume, falling to 6 to 8 hours at full volume. A camp speaker running loud through warm-ups and late nights sits closer to the short end, which is why a single charge rarely covers a full festival week.
