The short answer: take the metro. Trianglen and Vibenshus Runddel are the closest stations to Fælledparken, and DHL Stafetten 2026 runs from 24 to 28 August with the relay starting at 18:00 and the walk at 18:30 each evening, according to the official FAQ. Here is the practical rundown so your evening starts at the start line, not in a queue.

The basics: where and when

DHL Stafetten København takes place in Fælledparken, with the main entrance on Øster Allé, right opposite Parken, the national stadium (official site). There is a second main entrance at Frederik V's Vej on the Rigshospitalet side, and the main paved path runs between the two, straight across the event area.

The relay starts at 18:00 and the walk at 18:30. The official programme in Fælledparken wraps up when the last runner has finished, at roughly 21:30 according to the participant guide. No formal gate-opening time is published, so arrive with a decent buffer and check the official practical information page for your evening's schedule before you leave.

Getting there

By metro and public transport

The organisers are refreshingly direct about this: the easiest way to and from Fælledparken is by bike or public transport, especially the metro. Trianglen and Vibenshus Runddel stations put you more or less at the door (official FAQ). Just expect company. Five evenings of relay teams all aim for the same 18:00 start, so the platforms get busy in the hour before. Leave earlier than feels necessary.

The event ticket

Again this year there is a special DHL Stafetten event ticket sold in the Rejsebillet app: unlimited public transport for 12 hours at a discounted price. It appears in the app from August, so check the official FAQ closer to your race day for the current details. If you are travelling across town after work and home again late, it usually beats buying single tickets.

By bike

This is Copenhagen, so obviously you can ride. Use the designated bicycle parking areas around Fælledparken, and note that bikes are not allowed near or in the tents for fire safety reasons (official FAQ). Park at the edge of the park and walk the last stretch.

By car

Honestly, skip it. There are very few parking spaces around Fælledparken, and the organisers themselves recommend cycling or public transport instead (official FAQ). If someone in the team insists on driving, drop-off and a long walk is the realistic outcome.

Entrances and finding your tent

Both main entrances, Øster Allé and Frederik V's Vej, lead onto the paved path that crosses the park from Parken Stadium towards Rigshospitalet. Pick whichever is closest to where you land; both put you straight into the middle of things.

If your team has booked a tent, your contact person receives an email in the days before the race with the tent assignment, and the official map plus the free DHL Stafetten app show where everything sits (participant guide). Agree on a meeting point with your teammates before you split up. A park full of near-identical tents is a terrible place to play hide and seek at 17:55.

Drop your bag, sort your phone

Volt runs Event Lockers at both main entrances, at "Main Entrance Øster Allé" and "Main Entrance Frederik V's Vej", right on the main path. They are the same Event Lockers festival goers use all summer: each one measures 30 x 30 x 50 cm, enough for a bag, valuables and a dry layer for the ride home. You book online, your locker number and personal access code appear right after purchase and arrive by email and SMS, and you can open the locker as many times as you like during the rental period at no extra cost. Full details are on the Event Lockers service page, and you can book ahead in the DHL 2026 presale.

Phones take a beating on relay evenings: team photos, live results in the app, and a steady stream of "where are you?" messages. The Volt Charging Service is on site too. Rent a Volt-Charger, keep your phone topped up while you run and cheer, and swap it for a fresh powerbank at the staffed Volt booth instead of hunting for a wall socket in a park. More on the Volt Charging Service page.

Arrival-day checklist

  • Come changed and ready to run. There are no changing rooms or showers in Fælledparken (official FAQ).
  • Sort your transport ticket in advance, or grab the event ticket in the Rejsebillet app once it goes live.
  • Aim to be in the park well before 18:00 so you can find your tent and get settled before the first leg lines up.
  • Travel light. Book an Event Locker at either main entrance for your bag and valuables via the presale.
  • Charge before you leave, or pick up a Volt-Charger on site and stop thinking about your battery.
  • Plan the trip home. The programme ends around 21:30 and a lot of people head for the metro at once, so a little patience (or a bike) pays off.
