What to pack for DHL Stafetten 2026 (and what to leave at home)

DHL Stafetten 2026 takes over Fælledparken from 24 to 28 August as an evening event with no camping, so this checklist covers what to pack, what to leave at home, and how Event Lockers and a Volt-Charger keep your hands free.

Pack for a long evening picnic, not a weekend under canvas. DHL Stafetten 2026 takes over Fælledparken in Copenhagen from Monday 24 to Friday 28 August, your team shows up on one of the five evenings, and everyone sleeps in their own bed afterwards (official practical info). That changes the packing maths completely: you are kitting out five hours in a park, not a festival weekend.

Here is what earns a spot in your bag, what should stay at home, and how to spend the evening carrying almost nothing. For the bigger picture on getting there and how the evening flows, our DHL Stafetten 2026 guide has you covered.

First, the format: one evening, no camping

DHL Stafetten is a 5 x 5K relay, or a walk, followed by dinner on the grass. The run starts at 18:00, the walk at 18:30 (official practical info), and the evening wraps up around 21:30 when the last runner is home (participant guide). Team registration already covers bib numbers, a baton, timekeeping, a snack box and drink vouchers, plus water in the start and finish area (practical info).

Two more facts shape everything below. There are no changing rooms and no showers in Fælledparken (official FAQ), and most people come straight from work with a bag they now have to babysit. So: pack light, pack something dry, and plan where that bag lives.

The packing list

Bring Why it earns its place
Running kit and shoes you can do 5K in You only cover one leg of the relay, but you cover it in whatever you brought.
A dry top and a warm layer No changing rooms or showers on site (official FAQ), and a sweaty t-shirt turns cold fast once you stop moving.
A picnic blanket The real event happens on the grass. A tent is optional, not a requirement (official FAQ).
Food beyond the snack box Registration includes a snack box and drink vouchers, not a full dinner (practical info). Bring your own picnic or buy food on site.
A gas grill, if your team grills The organiser strongly discourages charcoal and disposable grills and points to gas instead (official FAQ).
Your phone, with a charging plan Split times, the team photo and finding your tent all run through it. Rent a Volt-Charger on site instead of packing a powerbank (more below).

What to leave at home

The car

There are very few parking spaces around Fælledparken, and the organiser's own recommendation is to cycle or take public transport, especially the metro (official FAQ). Cycling comes with one catch: bikes are not allowed in or near the tents for fire safety reasons (official FAQ), so use the bike parking and walk the last stretch.

Deposit bottles and cans

The organiser advises against bringing deposit bottles and cans into the park, since they attract deposit collectors (official FAQ). Pour into something else or use the drink vouchers.

The dog

Children and dogs cannot take part in the relay or the walk (official FAQ). Give the dog the evening off.

Anything you would spend the evening guarding

Laptop, work clothes, keys, headphones: if it follows you from the office, it needs a better home than a pile behind the tent. Which brings us to the good part.

The carry-less play: an Event Locker and a Volt-Charger

Volt runs Event Lockers at both main entrances to the event, Øster Allé and Frederik V's Vej, and the official participant guide points to them for exactly this job (participant guide). Each locker is 30 x 30 x 50 cm, enough for a backpack, a jacket, a laptop and your valuables, and you can open and close it as often as you like during the booking period at no extra cost. Your locker number and personal access code show up right after purchase and land by email and SMS, so there is nothing to print and nothing to lose.

In practice: drop the work bag on the way in, fish out your running shoes before your leg, pull the warm layer back out when the sun drops. Pre-book your Event Locker in the DHL 2026 collection and it is sorted before you have even picked which leg of the relay you are running. Curious how the lockers work in general? That is all on the Event Lockers service page.

Phone side, same logic. Skip packing a powerbank and use the Volt Charging Service instead: a festival goer rents a Volt-Charger, Volt's powerbank, at a staffed Volt booth and swaps it for a fresh one once a day. Your phone stays alive for split times, the team photo and your locker code, and you are never stuck babysitting a cable while your team eats.

The one-bag summary

One small bag: running kit, a dry top, a blanket and some food. One Event Locker for everything you do not want to carry, one Volt-Charger so the phone survives until the last runner is home. Practical details like tent booking and the evening programme can shift from year to year, so give the official DHL Stafetten site a quick check before your evening in Fælledparken.
