How much does a powerbank rental cost at a festival?

The Volt Charging Service is the staffed offering: you pick up a pocket-sized Volt-Charger at a Volt booth on site, keep it with you throughout the event, and return it at the end.

Prices typically run 135 to 219 DKK, depending on the festival and how early you book. Online booking is almost always cheaper than at the gate, so it pays to sort it before you arrive. Prices can rise as the event gets closer: the sooner you book, the less you pay.

What is the deposit, and when do you pay it?

The deposit is paid in person at the festival, not when you book online. You hand over 150 DKK when you collect your Volt-Charger at the staffed booth. That is the deposit for the charger itself.

If you also rent a cable at the counter, add 25 DKK to that deposit.

Using Volt Self-Service Charging instead? Those units have three built-in charging cables, so there is no separate cable deposit. The deposit for that option is 175 DKK.

The deposit is a security on the hardware: it means you are motivated to bring it back. Nothing is taken from your card until you actually pick up the charger on site.

When does the deposit come back?

Return the charger at the end of the festival at a staffed Volt booth and the deposit goes back to the same payment card you used. It typically takes around 14 working days to appear in your account.

That said, the actual speed depends on your card issuer. Some cards process refunds in a few days; others can take the full two to three weeks.

What if I need a cable?

If your phone uses a cable that is not built into the charger, the staffed Volt booth also offers over-the-counter charging, which includes individual cables for rent. The cable deposit is 25 DKK, refunded when you return it.

If you are using Volt Self-Service Charging, the charger already has three cable types built in, so no extra deposit applies.

Swap pass or pay per use?

Two options are available within the Volt Charging Service.

Pay per use is a single rental: you pay once, keep the charger for the duration of the event, and return it at the end.

Swap pass lets you trade in a drained charger for a fresh one, once per day, at any Volt swapping station across the festival. If your phone sees heavy use across a long weekend, the swap pass is usually the better fit.

Returning from a previous year?

If you still have your Volt-Charger from an earlier festival, you skip the deposit entirely. Bring it with you, show up at the booth, and you get a fresh charger without paying 150 DKK upfront.
