Sweden Rock 2026: guide to one of Scandinavia's biggest hard rock festivals

Sweden Rock takes place in Norje, a small village in Blekinge, southern Sweden, every June. The 2026 edition ran June 3–6 at the festival's permanent home at Norjebokevägen 2, 294 76 Sölvesborg, and brought around 40,000 hard rock and metal fans from over 60 countries to five stages across four days. What is Sweden Rock?

Sweden Rock began in 1992 in Olofström as a small summer event built around rock, blues and folk music. It moved to Karlshamn in 1993, then to Norje in 1998, and took its current name in 1999. Thirty-plus editions later it is one of the largest dedicated hard rock and heavy metal festivals in the world, drawing around 40,000 people annually from more than 60 countries, according to the official festival background page.

The format is four days in early June, five stages and more than 95 bands covering classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal, blues rock and related genres. The 2026 lineup featured Iron Maiden, Volbeat and Bring Me the Horizon as headliners, joined by Helloween, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, The Offspring, Babymetal and Black Label Society among many others. Most people plan months in advance, many return year after year, and the organisers describe the atmosphere as one where "people get along, help each other and share a love of hard rock." The site

The GPS address for the festival is Norjebokevägen 2, 294 76 Sölvesborg. The site sits in and around the village of Norje in Blekinge county. All five stages are within the festival grounds, and several reference points are useful to know before arrival.

Plattan, the central paved area, is where you find lost and found (run by the police), information booths and medical services. A second information booth sits inside the main entrance. Medical cover runs 24 hours a day via Sweden Rock Rescue, staffed by doctors and specialist nurses. Smoking is restricted to six designated zones marked with yellow flags. Water refill stations are free throughout the Toaby areas and behind the bleachers.

Card payments are the only option anywhere on site. No cash is accepted, including at bars, food vendors and merchandise stands.

Getting to Sweden Rock

By train and bus

The nearest train station is Sölvesborg. Nobina's commuter bus line 3 runs between Sölvesborg and the festival area in Norje throughout festival week. From Copenhagen, direct trains reach Sölvesborg via Skånetrafiken, making Sweden Rock reachable from Denmark with a single connection. By car

Enter Norjebokevägen 2, 294 76 Sölvesborg into GPS. The official parking lot is around 1.5 km north of the main entrance near Norje By, with privately operated lots nearby. Parking can be added when purchasing tickets on Ticketmaster. Overnight sleeping in the car is not allowed in the official lot. There are no EV charging points at the festival; the nearest are in Sölvesborg.

By air

Ronneby Airport and Kristianstad Österlen Airport are each roughly an hour from Norje.

Accommodation and camping

Sweden Rock runs two official accommodation options and is surrounded by private sites.

Sweden Rock Norra Camping is around 1,500 metres north of the festival area, connected by Nobina bus and on foot. It caters to motorhomes and caravans only, not tents. No electricity hook-ups are available. Awnings without walls are permitted; if you use an awning, a separate parking space must be booked for the vehicle. Each pitch includes four wristbands; additional wristbands cost SEK 250 each. Check-in for 2026 opened Monday June 1 and check-out ran until Sunday June 7. Tent camping: Norra Camping does not accommodate tents. Festival goers planning to tent camp need to book at one of the private sites in the Norje area. Several options surround the venue at varying distances from the main entrance.

An accessible campsite with a dedicated festival entrance is available for those with accessibility needs, alongside companion ticket access and accessible raised stage platforms with ramps.

Bags and what you can bring in

Sweden Rock applies a bag size limit at all entry points. Bags and backpacks up to 40 × 40 × 20 cm are allowed into the festival area. Anything larger will not pass through the gate. The full rules are on the official FAQ page.

Prohibited items include weapons and sharp objects (including multi-tools and nail scissors), fireworks, laser pens, glass and metal containers, aerosol products, outside beverages (small amounts of personal snacks such as fruit, energy bars or chewing gum are fine), professional cameras without media accreditation, selfie sticks, tripods, umbrellas and pets.

Children between 3 and 13 can attend with a paying adult for SEK 50. Children under 3 are not admitted. All children 3 to 13 must wear ear defenders throughout the festival, without exception. Children's wristbands are collected at the market square ticket exchange at the entrance.

Event Lockers with Volt

Volt operates Event Lockers at Sweden Rock at three locations across the site, confirmed on the official festival storage page:

• Outside the Main Entrance
• At Plattan (the central paved area)
• Inside the festival grounds (the Infield)

All three locker locations are covered, keeping belongings dry regardless of weather. Lockers are 30 × 30 × 50 cm. Personal access codes arrive by email and SMS before the rental period opens. Festival goers can access their locker multiple times within site opening hours at no extra charge.

Volt Self-Service Charging is also available on site. The self-service stations let festival goers pick up a Volt-Charger, keep it with them across the grounds, and charge whenever needed.

What to sort before you go

1. Accommodation: Official camping and glamping books out early. If you need tent space, book a private site in the Norje area as soon as the next edition is announced. Check the official site for booking dates.
2. Parking: Add a parking spot when buying tickets on Ticketmaster if driving. The official lot is limited.
3. Event Lockers: Volt locker booking opens ahead of the festival and all three on-site locations sell out before the gates open. Check getvolt.dk once booking is live for the next edition.
4. Bag size: Maximum 40 × 40 × 20 cm through the gates. Anything larger stays at camp.
5. Payment: Card only, no cash, anywhere on the festival site. Check your card works in Sweden before travelling.
