Ruisrock takes place on the island of Ruissalo, just outside Turku, every summer, and the 2026 edition runs July 3-5 at Kansanpuisto (ruisrock.fi). An island festival since 1970

It has sold out at around 105,000 people across the weekend in 2017, 2018 and 2019, with the all-time single-year record set back in 1971 at roughly 100,000 visitors, per the same source. The grounds split into two areas, a meadow section and a beach section, both inside Kansanpuisto on Ruissalo.

Getting to Ruissalo: no bridge shortcuts, but three ways in

Ruissalo is connected to Turku by road, so there's no ferry involved, but the island setting still shapes how everyone arrives, since the festival area itself sits a walk from any drop-off point. Per Föli, Turku's public transport authority, there are three options for 2026:

• Ruisrock's own festival buses, leaving from stop 472 Puutori on Maariankatu in the city centre. They drop you near the Ruissalo bridge, about a two-kilometre walk from the festival area. These buses run outside the Föli system, so a Föli ticket isn't valid on them.
• Föli bus line 28, running to Ruissalo at more frequent intervals during the festival weekend (July 3-5), departing Market Square from stop A8 or the charter stop outside Wiklund. The closest stop, 538 Kasvitieteellinen puutarha, is about a kilometre's walk from the festival area.
• Föli's water bus, normally running from Martinsilta Bridge in the city centre to the Ruissalo boatyard, about a two-kilometre walk from the festival. Note that the water bus doesn't stop at the closer Kansanpuisto pier between June 22 and July 8, which covers the festival weekend, so the boatyard stop is the one to use.

Camping isn't on site, but Ruissalo Camping is nearby

Ruisrock itself doesn't run a campsite. Ruissalo Camping, at Saarontie 25, is a separate site maintained by the City of Turku, about 5 km from the festival grounds, and it's open specifically around the festival: from 18:00 on Thursday, July 2 to noon on Monday, July 6 in 2026 (Ruissalo Camping's own page). Each festival goer books an individual camping ticket plus one shared tent or camper pitch ticket per group of up to five people, sold through Tiketti with no single-night option. The site has a beach, showers and toilets indoors, kitchen facilities, a minimarket and a café-restaurant, plus a free shuttle bus to the festival area, about a 20-minute ride.

Tickets

Ruisrock sells 3-day tickets through its official ticket partner, Tiketti, with a limit of four tickets per person, plus Plus and VIP tickets issued as wristbands that unlock dedicated areas alongside the general programme (ruisrock.fi/en/tickets). Rules, age limits and what to bring

There's no minimum age for entry, though the festival recommends anyone under 14 attend with a guardian, and children under 9 get in free with proof of age alongside an accompanying adult (Ruisrock's official info page). Alcohol, drugs and anything that could cause injury, including edged or bladed items, are banned from the festival area, and Ruisrock publishes its full permitted and prohibited items list closer to the event, with security stewards making the final call at the entrance (Ruisrock's terms and conditions). A standard day ticket admits you to the festival area once per day, so plan around re-entry if you're leaving for the campsite.

The site is built with accessibility in mind: raised viewing platforms with ramp access near the main stages, an accessible parking area about 400 m from the entrance, accessible toilets throughout the grounds, and free entry for an assistant accompanying a visitor who needs support (Ruisrock's official info page).
