A Volt point isn't one thing. Here's the difference between staffed booths, self-service charging, Recharge Zones and Volt Containers at your festival.
You keep seeing "find your nearest Volt point" and nobody tells you what that actually is. Fair question. A Volt point is not one thing, it's shorthand for four different physical setups, and which one you're looking for depends on what you need.
Below is the full breakdown, so you know exactly what you're walking up to.
1. Staffed Volt booths
This is the classic setup: a person behind a counter. It runs three services:
- Volt Charging Service: rent a Volt-Charger (a pocket powerbank), then swap it for a fresh one once a day when it runs out. Bring one from a past year and you skip the deposit.
- Over-the-counter charging: rent a powerbank with cables on the spot, or just rent the right cable if that's all you need.
- Hand-in charging: drop your own phone or powerbank at the booth, collect it later, fully charged.
If you want a human to hand you something or take something off your hands, this is the point you're after.
2. Self-service Volt Charging stations
No queue, no staff. Take a charger straight from the station: it has 3 charger cables built in, so it works with whatever you're carrying. This is Volt Self-Service Charging, and the hardware behind it is Brick's. You keep the charger with you rather than swapping it, so it's the option for anyone who doesn't want to walk back to a booth mid-set.
At bigger camping festivals the self-service stations are usually spread across the camp areas the staffed booths don't reach, so check which camp you're in before assuming there's a queue-free option nearby.
3. Volt Recharge Zones
This is the pickup point for SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap: drained Gen4 battery in, full one out, up to your package limit. It's also where you pick up a rented Gen4 battery or a SOUNDLOCK for the first time. Gen1 to Gen3 batteries aren't compatible with the swap, only Gen4, matching how SOUNDBOKS itself specs the Gen4 battery as the current generation.
A Volt Recharge Zone is a different physical spot from a staffed charging booth, even though both are staffed. One tops up your phone, the other tops up your speaker.
4. Volt Containers
The Volt Container is the big infrastructure piece: the full Event Locker installation, built from flightcase modules that scale up fast. It's also listed alongside Recharge Zones as a pickup and return point for rented SOUNDBOKS hardware. If your ticket mentions a locker code or a locker location, this is what it's pointing at.
Event Lockers booked through a Volt Container are pre-paid, opened with a personal code sent by email and SMS shortly before your slot, and you can open and re-lock them as often as you like during opening hours. There's no power outlet inside, so don't plan on charging anything in there.

No. An Event Locker is one product, storage. A Volt point is the physical location, and depending on which one you're at, it might be a locker installation (a Volt Container), a charging booth, a self-service station, or a Recharge Zone. Not every Volt point offers lockers.
Do I need to book before I show up at a Volt point?
For Event Lockers and SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap packages, yes: pre-book online for the best price, then collect your code or your hardware on site. Over-the-counter charging and hand-in charging at a staffed booth don't require a pre-booking.
Can I use a self-service charger and still swap at a staffed booth?
They're separate services with separate deposits, so treat them as two different tools rather than one system. Pick whichever matches how you want to use your phone: swap once a day and hand the charger back, or keep one on you the whole event.
