6 things to sort before you leave for Smukfest 2026
Event Lockers and Volt Charging Service slots sell out before 2 August. Here is what to sort this week: wristbands, campsite times, travel, charging and house rules.
Smukfest comes around fast once July gets going. Event Lockers and Volt Charging Service slots sell out before the gates open on 2 August, a few admin jobs take longer than expected, and the campsite fills quickly once check-in starts on 31 July. These six things are worth sorting this week.
1. Book your Event Locker and charging slot
Volt runs Event Lockers and Volt Charging Service at Smukfest. Both are booked through the Smukkiosken at smukfest.dk/kiosk. Both sell out before the festival opens, and the price rises as you get closer to the event.
Event Lockers give you a covered, personally coded storage space (roughly 30x30x50 cm) you can open and re-lock as many times as you like during opening hours. Your locker number and access code arrive by email and SMS before your slot starts. No bag to carry into the crowd all day.
All-week slots cover the festival from around 5 August, or from 3 August for those staying in Skovlunden. The locker has no power outlet, so charge your phone at a Volt station first, then lock it away.
Volt Charging Service is the staffed option: rent a Volt-Charger and swap it for a fully charged one once a day at a staffed booth. Booths are at KærligHeden, Sølund Indgang, and Stjernebaren. Prefer to stay in camp? Volt Self-Service Charging stations are spread across Holst, NaturligHeden, Skovlunden, Banerne and FØLA, Sølund Midt, and Skanderborghus, and they do not need staff to operate.
Full details on both services are on the Smukfest 2026 Volt Resources guide.
2. Check your wristband situation
Most Smukfest 2026 tickets are sold out. Sunday tickets and a waitlist are still available at smukshop.dk.
If your wristband is being mailed to you, Smukfest recommends wearing it from home. It gets you straight onto the free shuttle bus from Skanderborg station and skips the check-in queue entirely.
If you have a print-yourself ticket, a check-in letter, or anything that needs to be exchanged for a physical wristband, check-in opens on 31 July at three locations according to the official practical info page:
- Sherwood entrance
- KærligHeden Mark 2
- Waltherhalla, Birkevej 23
Bring valid photo ID. Hours vary by day and location; the full schedule is on smukfest.dk/praktisk.
3. Know when your campsite opens
Most camping areas, including KærligHeden, NaturligHeden, and Skovlunden, open on Sunday 2 August at 14:00, according to Smukfest's practical info. Campervans in Friheden can arrive from Monday 3 August at 10:00. Helper and setup camps open from Friday 31 July.
The campsite fills quickly after the 2 August opening. Arriving early that afternoon gets you settled before the Tuesday stage access begins and before the best tent spots go.
For tent size limits and full camping rules, see smukfest.dk/campingregler.
4. Plan how you get there
Skanderborg is on the main rail line between Aarhus and Copenhagen, roughly 20 minutes from Aarhus by train. Free festival shuttle buses run from Skanderborg station directly to the site, operating 24 hours a day from 31 July through 10 August, according to Smukfest. Your wristband is your ticket on the bus.
Driving? Free parking is at two lots:
- Festival P Vest: Horndrupvej 4B
- Festival P Øst: Hylkevej 3
Midttrafik also runs a special Smukfest bus ticket covering the entire Central Denmark Region for 16 hours, valid on all Midttrafik buses, the Light Rail, and Midtjyske Jernbaner. A valid festival wristband is required alongside it.
Six colour-coded shuttle routes connect parking, camping, and the festival grounds. Check the full route map at smukfest.dk/praktisk before you travel.
5. Load your wristband and pre-order drinks
Smukfest is fully cashless. Load money onto your wristband via the Smukfest app before you arrive. Any unspent balance is refunded automatically to your linked account after the festival.
If you want to pre-order Royal drinks to collect on site, the deadline is 1 August at 23:59 through Smukkiosken.
Download the official Smukfest app for the full programme, site map, and real-time info. It's the fastest way to find who's on next and where your friends are.
6. Know what you can't bring onto the grounds
The camping areas are fairly relaxed, but the festival grounds have stricter rules. The following are not permitted past the entrance, per Smukfest's official rules:
- Glass bottles
- Outside food or drinks (diabetic emergency juice is the one exception)
- Drones and laser pens
- Flags, banners, and camping chairs
- Professional recording equipment and tripods
- Fireworks
Own food and drinks are fine in the camping areas. The festival grounds themselves are food-vendor only.
Medical help is available 24 hours at the Forest Medical Station at the Sherwood entrance. A second treatment station at KærligHeden runs from Sunday 2 August through Wednesday 5 August at 01:00. Volunteers in yellow "Ven-i-vest" vests are posted across the site and can help you quickly.
