Smukfest 2026: Lockers, Charging and the Beech Forest

Smukfest 2026 ran 2 to 9 August in the beech forest outside Skanderborg. Volt was there all week with Event Lockers and charging across the site, so festival goers' stuff stayed safe and phones stayed alive. Here is the full camp-zone breakdown, corrected against Smukfest's own live camping-areas page, plus what the forest itself is actually like.

Smukfest 2026 at a glance

Smukfest takes place in Skanderborg Dyrehave, a beech forest on the edge of Skanderborg in central Denmark. It is one of Denmark's best-loved summer festivals, known as much for its setting as its lineup: the stages are tucked into the trees, the camping areas each have their own character, and the atmosphere is relaxed even when the crowds are large.

The festival window for 2026 was 2 to 9 August. Wristband check-in opened on 31 July at three locations: the Sherwood entrance, KærligHeden Mark 2, and Birkevej 23 (Waltherhalla). Camping areas opened in two phases: KærligHeden, NaturligHeden and Skovlunden from 2 August at 14:00, and FØLA, Banerne, Sølund and Skanderborghus from 4 August at 14:00. Full detail on the practical information page ↗ at smukfest.dk.

What to expect in the beech forest

Smukfest's own site calls it a protected beech forest, and that shapes the whole week: it is a genuinely large area, so the free shuttle buses between camping and the stages are not optional extras, they are how most people actually get around. Inside the festival grounds you cannot bring outside food, drink or large items, though an empty water bottle for refilling is allowed. In the camping areas you can bring your own provisions, but flamingo tubs and pavilions are banned to protect the forest floor. Showers on site cost a small fee per use. All of this comes straight from Smukfest's practical information page ↗, which is worth checking again closer to next year's dates since the details can shift.

The camping areas

Smukfest has more than ten camping areas, each with a different feel. The three that opened earliest (from 2 August at 14:00) were:

  • KærligHeden: the social heart of the campsite. Warm-up events happen here before the main programme starts, and it stays lively around the clock. Volt's staffed booth is here.
  • NaturligHeden: quieter and green, in its own corner of the forest. Shuttle buses connect it to the main festival area. Volt Self-Service Charging is available here.
  • Skovlunden: scenic camp close to the festival grounds, with a wooded path leading straight to the stages. Volt Self-Service Charging is available here, alongside Event Locker access from around 3 August, earlier than the other locker zones.

Other areas include Banerne, Føla, Medhjælpercamp (the volunteer camp), Sølund and Skanderborghus. A full overview with opening times is on the camping areas page ↗ at smukfest.dk.

Event Lockers at Smukfest 2026

A locker means you are not dragging a bag through the crowd all day. Volt runs all-week Event Lockers at Smukfest at three locations: Sølund entrance, Skanderborghus and Skovlunden. Book for the full festival, drop your things in when you arrive, and come back whenever you like.

How it works:

  1. Book in advance through Volt's Smukfest 2026 shop. Prices are lower before the festival starts.
  2. Get your access code. Shortly before your locker slot begins, Volt sends your locker number and personal access code by email and SMS.
  3. Come and go freely. Open and re-lock your locker as many times as you like during opening hours. No extra charge per visit.

The lockers are approximately 30 x 30 x 50 cm, stored under cover, and monitored daily. There is no power outlet inside the locker itself, so charge your devices at a Volt charging point first.

Locker access at Sølund entrance and Skanderborghus opens from around 5 August; Skovlunden opens earlier, from around 3 August, matching that camp's own earlier opening. This comes straight from Volt's own Smukfest 2026 product listing. Unused locker time is non-refundable, and Volt is not responsible for items left inside. For what actually fits, see the packing guide for a Smukfest locker.

Volt Charging Service at Smukfest

Your phone needs to last from the first act to the last shuttle home. The Volt Charging Service is the staffed option: rent a Volt-Charger (a pocket-sized powerbank), and when it runs flat, swap it for a full one. One swap per day is included. No hunting for outlets, no carrying cables.

How it works:

  1. Book in advance through Volt's Smukfest 2026 shop, or pick up directly at a Volt booth on site. Prices rise closer to the event.
  2. Pick up your Volt-Charger at a staffed Volt booth. Pay a refundable deposit when you collect it.
  3. Swap once a day when it runs out. Come to any staffed Volt booth, hand in the flat Volt-Charger, get a full one.
  4. Return it at the end of your stay to get your deposit back. Deposit refunds return to the same card within around 14 weekdays.

If you have a Volt-Charger from a previous year, you skip the deposit when you collect at Smukfest.

Volt Self-Service Charging at Smukfest

For camp areas that are further from the staffed booths, Volt runs Volt Self-Service Charging stations: freestanding units where you take a charger with three built-in cables, keep it with you, and return it when you are done. No staff needed, available throughout the day.

Volt Self-Service Charging covers seven camp areas at Smukfest 2026:

  • NaturligHeden
  • Skovlunden
  • Banerne
  • Føla
  • Medhjælpercamp (volunteer camp)
  • Sølund, the camp area itself
  • Skanderborghus

A refundable deposit applies at pickup. Return the charger to any Volt Self-Service Charging station to get it back. This list is corrected against Smukfest's own camping areas page ↗: there is no "Holst" camp area or charging point at Smukfest, and Føla runs its own self-service station separately from Banerne.

Where to find Volt at Smukfest

Volt has two types of presence on site: staffed booths and self-service stations.

Staffed Volt booths (Volt Charging Service, swap service, and locker support):

  • KærligHeden
  • Sølund, at the main entrance
  • Stjerne Bar

Volt Self-Service Charging stations cover the remaining camp areas: NaturligHeden, Skovlunden, Banerne, Føla, Medhjælpercamp, Sølund (the camp area itself), and Skanderborghus.

For questions on the day, head to the nearest Volt booth. For the full opening-hours map, see where Volt Self-Service Charging covers each camp zone.
