Every first-time Smukfest visitor ends up in the same conversation on day two

They had no idea they needed that, and they wish they had sorted it before leaving home. None of these seven things are hard to fix. All seven are much easier to fix from your sofa than from a queue in Skanderborg's beech forest, which is exactly where Smukfest happens every year ("festivalen i bøgeskoven," in the festival's own words).

1. Load your Smukfest Cashless wristband before you arrive

Smukfest runs on a cashless wristband, and the festival's own practical info page explains the fastest route: log into the Smukfest App under your profile (via Mit.smuk) and transfer money onto your wristband before you leave home. Any balance left over is refunded to your card automatically once the festival ends. Skip this step and you will be doing it from a phone with 4% battery, standing in line at a top-up wagon on site instead.

That is also the point where a dead phone becomes an actual problem, not just an inconvenience, since your wristband top-up, your ticket and your ride home all live on it.

2. Book your Event Locker zone, not just "a locker"

Event Lockers at Smukfest are split across specific zones on the festival grounds, and booking is tied to a zone and a date range, not a single festival-wide pool. 3. Pick a charging plan on paper, not on the fly

4. Know what you are actually allowed to plug in at your tent

This is the one first-timers get wrong most often, because "camp power" sounds like it means bring whatever you want. Smukfest's own camping rules restrict what you can run at your pitch to CE-approved electrical devices and solar setups, used as designed and not modified. Generators, oversized batteries and homemade power rigs are not on that list. If your plan was a car battery and an inverter for the week, it is worth rethinking before you pack it, not after a marshal has a word with you. 5. Pack like you are walking through a forest, not a field

Smukfest happens in the beech forest at Dyrehaven, and the ground under a forest canopy does not dry out and firm up the way an open field does. 6. Know there are two charging options, not one

Volt is not the only way to top up a phone on site. Smukfest's own practical info page also lists AURA charging tables, table-and-bench sets fitted with built-in mobile chargers, spread around the festival grounds at no cost. They are fine for a quick top-up between sets. For anything more than that, a Volt Self-Service Charging point covers you for the whole day without waiting for a free spot at a bench.

7. Choose your camp for what you will actually do there, not just for a good spot

Smukfest's camp areas are not identical in what they offer. KærligHeden, the festival's busiest and most social camping area, is also where the staffed Volt Charging Service point and the only SOUNDBOKS Battery Swap point on the whole site sit. Quieter camps such as Naturligheden and Skovlunden get Volt Self-Service Charging only, no staffed swap point and no Battery Swap. If your camp plans include a shared speaker running all week, that is worth knowing before you pitch your tent on the far side of the site from the one point that services it.
