Getting to Bakkefest 2026: transport, entrances and arrival tips
Bakkefest 2026 fills the grounds at Gillelejehallen in Gilleleje from 10 to 12 July, a short walk from Gilleleje Station on the 950R and 940R local lines.
Bakkefest 2026 fills the grounds around Gillelejehallen in Gilleleje from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 July, and arriving is refreshingly simple: the festival site sits a short walk from Gilleleje Station, right across the road. Here is everything worth sorting before you leave home, from train lines to gate times to what the security check will not let through.
Where Bakkefest actually is
The address is Bøgebakken 19C, 3250 Gilleleje. The festival site and concert area are built on the car park and grounds in front of Gillelejehallen, the local sports and culture hall. If you arrive by train, you do not need a map: the organisers say the site is within walking distance of the station, so you can follow the music.
By train: the easiest way in
Two local lines end at Gilleleje Station, according to the official practical info:
Line 950R (Gribskovbanen) runs directly between Hillerød and Gilleleje. Line 940R (Hornbækbanen) runs along the coast between Helsingør and Gilleleje. Coming from the Copenhagen area, ride out to Hillerød or Helsingør and change to the local line there. Check exact departures on Rejseplanen before you go, especially for the trip home after the last song.
By bus
Several bus lines connect Gilleleje with the surrounding towns: line 360R runs between Gilleleje Station and Helsinge Station, while lines 362 and 363 serve the smaller towns around Gilleleje.
Driving, parking and taxis
Short version: leave the car at home. The festival site occupies Gillelejehallen's usual car park, so the normal spaces are closed off and parking near the site is very limited. The organisers actively encourage cycling or public transport instead.
If driving is your only option, the official page points to the harbour area (around Nordre Havnevej) and the industrial quarter around Alfavej and Vodbindervej. Bring your parking disc and read the signs: many spots in town and by the harbour are time-limited.
Taxis wait right by Gilleleje Station, on the other side of the road from the festival site, under two minutes on foot. Handy for a safe ride home when the trains get crowded. And they will get crowded: the organisers expect a big share of the crowd to head home via Gilleleje Station, so pack a little patience for the return trip.
When the gates open
These are the published opening times for 2026. Times can always shift, so give the official page a quick check before you head out.
| Day | Site opens | Music starts | Closes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Friday 10 July | 15:00 (site and Ankers Tivoli) | 17:00 | 01:30 |
| Saturday 11 July | 13:00 | 16:00 | 01:30 |
| Sunday 12 July | 11:00 (with the big herring lunch; full site from 12:00) | 14:00 on the stage | 20:00 |
At the entrances
Every festival goer must show a valid wristband or ticket at the entrance, and searches can happen at all entrances, so pack light and keep your ticket ready on your phone. Buy tickets through official Ticketmaster channels only; the official site warns that tickets bought elsewhere can be cancelled at the gate. Children under 12 get in free with an adult holding a valid ticket.
The banned items list includes your own food and drinks (alcohol included), umbrellas, festival chairs, animals, bicycles and pull carts (prams and strollers are fine), fireworks, laser pens, and flags or banners. The list is not exhaustive, so when in doubt, leave it at home.
One more thing before you queue up: Bakkefest is completely cashless. Contactless card, Apple Pay and Google Pay all work, but MobilePay and cash do not.
Drop your stuff in an Event Locker
Packing light is easier when you have somewhere to put things. Volt runs Event Lockers at Bakkefest: book online before the festival, and your locker number and personal access code show up right after purchase and arrive by email and SMS. You can open your locker as many times as you like during opening hours, at no extra cost. The official info page notes there is a limited number of lockers, so book in good time.
Book yours at volt.getlocker.dk/bakkefest-2026, and read more about how Event Lockers work.
Keep your phone alive all weekend
A cashless site plus a digital ticket means your phone is doing a lot of work. The Volt Charging Service is on site at Bakkefest: pick up a pocket-sized Volt-Charger at the Volt booth, keep it with you while you watch the shows, and swap it for a fresh one once a day. If you still have a Volt-Charger from an earlier event, bring it along and skip the deposit.
The official page is clear that booking ahead is cheaper, with prices rising closer to the festival, so grab the Bakkefest 2026 presale while it is the cheap option. Everything Volt runs at the festival is collected on the Bakkefest hub page.
