What to pack for Fjordlys 2026 (and what to leave at home)

Fjordlys 2026 runs 10 and 11 July at Frederiksvaerk Havn with a no large bags rule, so this checklist covers what to pack, what to skip, and how Event Lockers and the Volt Charging Service handle the rest.

Fjordlys Festival, the volunteer-run festival that calls itself the cosiest of the year, takes over Frederiksværk Havn on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July 2026, and the official FAQ is clear on one thing: large bags are not allowed in. That single rule decides your whole packing strategy. Pack for a long summer day by the fjord, keep it pocket-sized, and let a locker and a rented powerbank carry the rest.

First, know what kind of festival this is

Fjordlys is a day and evening festival on the harbor, not a camping festival. There is no tent field on the festival grounds. If you want to stay over, the festival points to Frederiksværk Camping & Hostel, about a 15 minute walk away, with cabins, tent pitches and room for motorhomes (details in the FAQ).

That changes everything. Your sleeping bag, air mattress and pavilion ambitions stay at the campsite or at home. What comes through the gate is only what you need from the first act to the last.

Opening hours were not published at the time of writing, so check the official FAQ before you plan your arrival.

The Fjordlys packing list

Everything here fits in your pockets or one small bag:

  • Ticket and ID. Your ticket on your phone, plus valid ID if you are 12 to 17 (it gets checked at the entrance) or plan to visit the bar, which is 18+ (age rules in the FAQ).
  • Phone and payment. A card or phone payment covers you all day.
  • An empty water bottle. Outside food and drinks are banned, but an empty bottle for refilling is the official exception.
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses. July sun plus water reflection is a strong combination.
  • A warm or rain layer. Evenings by the fjord cool down fast, and Danish summer weather changes its mind. A packable jacket earns its place.
  • Comfortable shoes. You will be on your feet on harbor ground most of the day.
  • Earplugs. Cheap, tiny, worth it.

That is the whole list. If something does not fit in a jacket pocket or a small bag, question it.

What to leave at home

The festival bans a specific set of items at the entrance (full list in the FAQ):

  • Your own food and drinks (the empty water bottle excepted)
  • Festival chairs and similar
  • Large bags
  • Pets
  • Fireworks and laser pens
  • Drones and professional camera equipment without prior arrangement

Add two voluntary ones: your own powerbank and cable, and anything you would hate to lose in a crowd. The next section handles both.

The carry-less play: an Event Locker and a Volt-Charger

Volt runs Event Lockers and the Volt Charging Service at Fjordlys, and together they empty your pockets of almost everything. You can see everything Volt does at the festival on the Fjordlys hub page.

Book an Event Locker

The lockers measure about 30 x 30 x 50 cm, enough for a rain layer, a spare t-shirt, sunscreen and the valuables you do not want to carry through a crowd. You can pre-book one for Friday, Saturday or both days from 75 kr.

It works like this: book online, and your locker number and personal access code appear right after purchase and land in your inbox by email and SMS. You can open and re-lock the locker as often as you like during opening hours, at no extra cost. Grab the jacket when the chill rolls in off the fjord, drop it back when the sun returns. Just leave the locker empty, closed and locked when you head home, and note that booked rental periods are not refunded if you do not use them, so book the days you will actually be there.

Rent a Volt-Charger instead of packing a powerbank

Phones work hard at festivals: tickets, photos, finding your friends after the headliner. Instead of hauling a powerbank and cable from home, rent a Volt-Charger at the staffed Volt booth and swap it for a fresh one once a day. That is the Volt Charging Service, the same setup that runs at over 120 festivals and events. And if you kept a Volt-Charger from an earlier event, bring it along and skip the deposit.

Getting there light

The festival site is at Havnelinjen 23 in Frederiksværk, and the easy route is the local train from Hillerød Station to either Frederiksværk Station or Hanehoved Station, both within walking distance of the harbor. Parking nearby is limited and first come, first served, so the train is the calmer choice (transport details in the FAQ).

Fjordlys is two days of music down by the water, and the festival goers who enjoy it most tend to be the ones carrying the least. Pocket list in, big bag left at home, layer and valuables in a locker, Volt-Charger for the phone. Pre-book your Event Locker for Fjordlys 2026 and walk in with your hands free.
