What Fjordlys is actually like
The official site calls it the cosiest festival of the year, and the setup backs that up. A working harbour in Frederiksværk turns into a festival ground for one summer weekend, built and run entirely by local volunteers. It is small enough that you never lose your crew and close enough to the water that the evening light does half the scenography.
The 2026 lineup is Danish through and through: Nicklas Sahl, Christian Brøns, Josva, Keen on Queen, Karoline Funder and more, all listed on the official music page. There is also Rosé&BANKO, the festival's own rosé and banko session, back in 2026 in a new format (details here).
Bag rules: pack light
Large bags are not allowed in, per the official FAQ. Neither is your own food or drink, a festival chair, or your dog. An empty water bottle is fine, and you can refill it inside.
A couple more rules worth knowing from the same FAQ: kids under 12 get in free with a paying adult, and alcohol is 18+ with ID checks. Opening hours were not announced at the time of writing, so check the FAQ closer to the festival.
Event Lockers at Fjordlys 2026
Two festival days, one small-bag rule. That is exactly what Event Lockers are for.
Volt runs Event Lockers at Fjordlys 2026, and you can pre-book yours from 75 kr. A locker is about 30 x 30 x 50 cm: room for a powerbank, a light jacket for the evening, keys, wallet, sunscreen. You get a personal code by email and SMS, and you can open and re-lock it as often as you like while the festival is on. No staff, no queue, no carrying everything all day.
If you want the full picture of how they work, sizes and all, it is on the Event Lockers service page. Booking takes about a minute. Do it before the harbour sells out.
Keeping your phone alive
Your ticket is on your phone. Your train home is planned on your phone. Your photos of the fjord at sunset are on your phone. A dead battery at a festival is a solvable problem, so solve it before you go.
At over 120 festivals and events, Volt runs charging for exactly this reason. The Volt Charging Service is the staffed version: rent a Volt-Charger, a pocket-sized powerbank, keep it on you while you dance, and swap it for a fresh one once a day at a staffed Volt booth.
For Fjordlys 2026, the presale page currently lists Event Lockers, so check it before you go to see what is bookable on site. Either way, arrive with a fully charged powerbank in your locker and you are covered for the late set.
Getting there and getting home
The festival sits right by the harbour, and the official FAQ recommends the local train from Hillerød: get off at Frederiksværk or Hanehoved station and walk from there. Parking near the site is limited and first come, first served, so the train is the calmer option.
Getting home after the last song is handled too. The Festivalbussen leaves the festival at 02:00 on both nights, stopping at Hillerød Station at 02:30 and Copenhagen Central at 03:15. Tickets for the bus are sold through the festival's site.
Sleeping there
Fjordlys has no camping on the festival ground itself. Instead it partners with Frederiksværk Camping, about 15 minutes on foot from the site, with cabins, tent pitches and caravan spots. Details and booking info are on the official camping page.
Before you go
Ticket sorted, train checked, powerbank charged. The last thing every festival goer should do is stop planning to carry stuff. Pre-book your Event Locker for Fjordlys 2026 and spend the weekend hands-free, down by the fjord where you belong.
