Getting to Fjordlys 2026: transport, entrances and arrival tips

Fjordlys Festival lights up Frederiksværk Havn on 10 and 11 July 2026, and the whole thing sits right on the harbour, a short walk from two local train stations. That makes arrival day refreshingly simple, as long as you know which train to catch, when the night bus leaves, and what the entrance crew will actually let through. Here is the practical rundown.

Where and when

The festival takes place at Frederiksværk Havn. If you are navigating by GPS, the official address is Havnelinjen, 3300 Frederiksværk, on the edge of Roskilde Fjord in North Zealand.

Exact gate times for 2026 had not been published when we wrote this, so check the official FAQ closer to the festival for opening hours. Tickets are sold through Billetlugen, and you swap your ticket for a wristband at the entrance, so have it ready on your phone.

By train: the easy way in

The festival's own recommendation is the local train from Hillerød station, which stops at both Frederiksværk and Hanehoved. Both stations are within walking distance of the festival site and the camping area, so you can hop off, follow the crowd and be at the harbour a few minutes later.

Coming from Copenhagen, ride to Hillerød first and change to the local train there. Plan your exact departures on Rejseplanen on the day; summer timetables shift, and checking beats guessing on the platform.

The Festivalbussen: your 02:00 ride home

Getting home after the last song is covered too. Fjordlys runs the Festivalbussen together with Partykørsel.dk on both festival nights. It leaves the festival at 02:00, reaches Hillerød station at 02:30 and rolls into Copenhagen Central at 03:15, with the same schedule Friday and Saturday. Seats are booked through the festival's site, and if the night bus is your plan, book it before you need it. Double-check the times on the Festivalbussen page before you head out, in case anything changes.

Driving or grabbing a taxi

You can drive, but manage your expectations: parking is limited and works first come, first served in the areas around the harbour. If you want to be dropped at the door, taxis can drive right up to the main entrance. For most festival goers the train is the calmer option, especially at closing time when everyone leaves at once.

At the entrance: bags, wristbands and what to leave at home

Fjordlys keeps its entrance rules short and firm, and they are all listed in the official FAQ. The big one: large bags are not allowed, so pack light. You also cannot bring your own food and drinks, though an empty water bottle is fine to carry in and refill inside. Festival chairs stay at home, and so do pets, fireworks, laser pens, and drones or professional camera gear without prior agreement with the festival.

A few ticket details matter at the gate as well: youth tickets for 12 to 17 year olds are only valid with ID, children under 12 get in free when accompanied by a paying adult, and the bars check ID on anyone buying alcohol. Bring something with your date of birth on it even if you have not been carded in years.

Pack light, then ditch the rest in an Event Locker

Packing light does not have to mean carrying everything in your pockets all night. Volt runs Event Lockers at Fjordlys, each around 30 x 30 x 50 cm, which comfortably swallows a jacket, a powerbank, valuables and whatever else you do not feel like holding while you dance.

Booking is the easy part: book online, and your locker number and personal access code appear right after purchase and arrive by email and SMS. You can open your Event Locker as many times as you like during the rental period at no extra cost, so it works as a home base for the whole evening. Event Lockers for Fjordlys 2026 start at 75 kr and can be booked in advance on the Fjordlys 2026 presale page. Curious how the whole thing works? The Event Lockers service page has the full picture.

Staying over?

If you are making a weekend of it, the festival partners with Frederiksværk Camping, roughly 15 minutes on foot from the festival site, offering tent pitches, cabins and space for caravans. Both train stations sit within walking distance of the camping area too, so arriving by train works just as well if you are staying the night.

Arrival-day checklist

  • Ticket ready on your phone, swapped for a wristband at the entrance
  • ID if you are 12 to 17, and for buying alcohol at the bars
  • Small bag only; large bags are turned away
  • Empty water bottle to refill inside
  • Phone fully charged before you leave home
  • Event Locker booked if you want to go hands-free
  • Festivalbussen seat booked if you need the 02:00 ride home
  • A quick look at the official FAQ for gate times before you set off

That is really it. Catch the local train from Hillerød, travel light, and let the harbour handle the rest. See you by the fjord.
