What to pack for GRON 2026 (and what to leave at home)
A packing checklist for GRON 2026's eight one-day city shows from 16 to 26 July, based on the official rules, with a 75 DKK Event Locker as the carry-less option.
Pack like you are heading out for one long summer day, because that is exactly what GRON is. Gates open at 13.00 and close again at 21.45 according to the official practical info, the tour hits eight Danish cities between 16 and 26 July 2026 per the official tour plan, and there is no campsite. Tents are literally on the banned list. So the question is not how to survive three days in a field. It is how little you can carry for almost nine hours without missing anything.
First: GRON is a day event, not a camping festival
Every stop is a one-day show: Tårnby, Kolding, Aarhus, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Odense, Næstved and Valby, one city at a time, everyone home the same night. All eight dates currently show sold out on the tour plan, with a record 203,500 festival goers expected across the tour, as covered on the Volt GRON hub. Translation: it will be packed, and everything you bring is something you either carry through every set or stash in an Event Locker. More on that move below.
Pack this
Checked against GRON's official practical info:
- An empty, refillable water bottle. You cannot bring drinks in, tap water excepted, and anything else gets confiscated at the entrance. Free water stations around the site keep your bottle full all day.
- Sunscreen. It sits on GRON's own "yes please" list, right next to refillable bottles. July in an open park is no joke.
- A rain jacket, never an umbrella. Umbrellas and parasols are banned for safety reasons. Rain jackets are welcome, and they are even sold at the entrance if the forecast betrays you.
- Your own food, if you want it. Bringing food is allowed, just leave the knives at home. Buying on site works too, and the food stall profits go to Muskelsvindfonden.
- A payment card. GRON is cashless: no cash, no value cards, and no direct MobilePay. Card is the way to pay at every bar and stall.
- Photo ID. Alcohol sales are 18 plus, and you will be asked to show it.
- A powerbank, charged to 100 percent. Almost nine hours of photos, videos and finding your friends drains any phone, and your ticket home may live in a travel app. At many festivals Volt runs the Volt Charging Service, where you rent a Volt-Charger and swap it for a fresh one at a staffed Volt booth. At GRON, the Volt service you can pre-book is the Event Locker, so bring your own powerbank topped up from home.
- Comfortable shoes and a light layer. You will stand, dance and queue on grass until late evening, and Danish summer nights cool off fast.
Leave this at home
The official banned list is long and non-negotiable: weapons, any drinks except water, glass bottles, tents, pavilions, umbrellas, parasols, pull wagons, flags, banners, fireworks, laser pens, grills, pets, beer bongs, balloons, and professional camera or recording gear. The full list lives on the practical info page and is worth a skim before you zip the bag.
A few more things you can happily skip. The camping chair: GRON rents out festival chairs at the entrance for 60 DKK plus a 35 DKK deposit, per the practical info, which beats hauling one across town. The SOUNDBOKS: save it, and Soundlock, the Volt service that locks and charges a SOUNDBOKS, for a festival with a campsite. The stages have the sound covered here. And anything you would truly hate to lose: found items are handed over to the police as lost property right after the concert ends, so prevention beats retrieval.
The carry-less play: one Event Locker, one powerbank
GRON's own practical info points festival goers straight to Volt for bag storage, and it is the closest thing to walking in with empty hands.
An Event Locker at GRON costs 75 DKK per show and measures about 30 x 30 x 50 cm: comfortable room for a backpack, a jacket, a smaller bag and your valuables, as laid out on the Volt GRON hub. You book online in the Volt shop, and your locker number and personal access code arrive by email and SMS before the event starts. No key to lose, no paper ticket, no cloakroom queue.
The code is yours for the whole rental period, so you can open and re-lock your locker as often as you like at no extra cost, exactly how Event Lockers work everywhere Volt sets them up. Drop the rain jacket in at 15.00, grab the powerbank at 18.00, collect everything on the way out. Two things to remember: all lockers are emptied at 22.00 after the concert ends, and a booked locker is not refunded if you do not use it. Day storage, not overnight storage.
Lockers are city and date specific, one product for each of the eight stops from Tårnby to Valby, so pick the right show when you pre-book your Event Locker for 75 DKK.
Getting there and getting home
Public transport is the smart move. GRON encourages checking Rejseplanen, parking near several sites is limited or paid, and in Tårnby the concert site sits right next to Femøren metro station, all per the official practical info. Details differ from city to city, so check the entry for your stop before you leave home.
If you do drive and forget something in the car, an in/out wristband from the information stand costs 60 DKK and lets you leave the site and come back in. Or skip that loop entirely by packing so light there is nothing to forget.
The short version
One refillable bottle, sunscreen, a rain jacket, a card, photo ID and a charged powerbank on you. Everything else goes into an Event Locker, and the banned list stays at home. GRON 2026 is sold out, the days are long and the crowds are big, so give your shoulders the day off. See everything else about the tour on the Volt GRON hub, and book your locker before your city's show.
