Getting to Smukfest 2026: Trains, Buses, Parking

Getting to Smukfest is easiest by train to Skanderborg Station, then a short walk or a quick bus into the beech forest. If you drive, aim for one of the two free festival car parks on the edge of town and ride the free shuttle in. Smukfest 2026 runs 2 to 9 August in Skanderborg Dyrehave, with check-in open from 31 July, so plan your arrival around when your camp opens rather than just the first concert.

The short version

• Train: straight to Skanderborg Station, then about a 20 minute walk or a short bus to the forest.
• Bus: special festival routes run from the station and from nearby towns.
• Car: park free at Festival P Øst or P Vest, then take the free shuttle in. No overnight parking in the lots.
• Bike or foot: marked paths from Skanderborg centre, bike parking by the main entrance.

By train, the low-stress option

Skanderborg Station sits on the main line, with direct connections from Copenhagen, Odense and Aarhus, so the train is usually the calmest way in. From the platform it is roughly a 20 minute walk to the forest entrance, or you can hop on one of the festival buses that meet arrivals. Smukfest puts staff at the station during the busy days to point you the right way.

One thing to sort before you travel: download the Rejsekort app and check in before you board and out after you step off. There is extra ticket control on the Smukfest buses, and skipping the check-in risks a 1,000 kr control fee (Midttrafik).

By bus from Skanderborg Station

Two special routes run from the station into the festival, plus direct buses from Aarhus, Horsens, Silkeborg and a handful of nearby towns:

• Route 25S: Skanderborg Station to Skanderborghus, the festival site.
• Route 26S: Skanderborg Station to KærligHeden, the wilder camping corner.

Driving and parking

If you drive, do not try to park in the city centre. Skanderborg closes roads and restricts parking downtown during the festival to keep residents' streets clear (Skanderborg Kommune). Head instead for one of the two free festival car parks:

• Festival P Øst at Hylkevej 3, 8660 Skanderborg
• Festival P Vest at Horndrupvej 4B, 8660 Skanderborg

Both open from 31 July at 07:00 and close 10 August at 13:00. Overnight parking is not allowed in the lots, and drop-off zones give you about three minutes to unload. From there, free colour-coded shuttle buses run around the clock, from Friday 31 July at 07:00 until Monday 10 August at 14:00, linking the car parks, camping and the festival grounds. Cycling and walking

Skanderborg is a small town, so cycling in is genuinely quick. Marked bike paths lead from the centre, and there is bike parking by Sølund, opposite the main entrance. Coming on foot from the station is an easy walk through town to the forest.

When you arrive: check-in and camping

Your arrival window depends less on the music and more on when your camp opens. Check-in runs from 31 July at three points: the Sherwood entrance, KærligHeden (Mark 2), and Birkevej 23 (Waltherhalla). Bring your check-in letter and valid photo ID.

Land in the forest ready

Once you are through the gate, the day runs on your phone: your ticket, the map, meeting your crew, paying for a beer. That is a lot of battery for a long day in the woods. It helps to sort two things in advance. A locker near the entrance gives you somewhere safe to stash a bag and charger, and you can open it from your phone all day. And keeping your phone alive means either the staffed Volt Charging Service, a swap for a fresh powerbank once a day, or self-service charging stations you can grab and carry.
