What does it cost to offer Event Lockers at your festival?
Volt operates on a revenue-share model: no upfront hardware cost, no staffing bill. Here is how the pricing works and what organisers typically earn from Event Lockers.
Nothing upfront. Volt operates on a revenue-share model: Volt supplies the hardware, staffs the entire service, and takes a share of what festival goers pay. For the organiser, the result is new income from a service you did not have to build or staff.
Most festival organisers who contact Volt assume the lockers come with a hire fee or a setup cost they need to budget for. They do not. The service is structured to fund itself from locker revenue, and the organiser receives a share of that revenue.
How the revenue-share model works
When you add Event Lockers to your event through Volt, there is no hardware purchase, no equipment rental fee, and no staffing bill. Volt brings the physical units, deploys and operates them across the event, and earns a portion of the income generated when festival goers book a locker.
The organiser receives the remaining share. As Volt states on its for-organisers hub: "Lockers can run on revenue share, so the service can pay for itself."
The model means the cost question flips. The right question is not "what does it cost to offer lockers?" but "what does a locker service return?"
What Volt provides
Under the standard agreement, Volt handles the full operation from logistics through to close-down. That covers:
- Physical locker units (flightcase modules of around 40 lockers each, or container units of up to 296 lockers, each roughly 30 x 30 x 50 cm)
- Full staffing for setup, on-site operations, and breakdown
- The booking platform, with festival goers receiving a personal access code by email or SMS
- On-site support throughout the event
- Cool Lockers for food, medication, and cold drinks where required
The organiser allocates the footprint and, where possible, promotes the service ahead of the event through the usual communication channels. Everything else sits with Volt.
What the income looks like in practice
Revenue from Event Lockers depends on event size, the number of units deployed, pricing per locker, and how early festival goers book. There is no fixed rate that applies across all events.
A useful benchmark: Weezevent's 2026 analysis of European festival operations notes that some events generate over €100,000 from locker services alone. Paaspop Festival in the Netherlands, for instance, ran over 12,000 connected lockers across a single edition. That figure is a large-scale deployment. A Nordic festival running a few hundred units will see a smaller total, but with none of the operating cost sitting on the organiser side, the income is effectively pure margin.
Three ways to run it
Volt offers three deployment models. The simplest is Volt-branded: the service runs under the Volt name with no further configuration from you. A co-branded setup shares the locker front with a sponsor; revenue from that sponsorship arrangement can improve the split for the organiser or fund additional capacity. A white-label arrangement means the service carries your event's name entirely, with Volt operating invisibly behind it. This is common for events where the organiser wants full ownership of the guest-facing experience.
Commercial terms adapt to each model. Sponsor contribution in a co-branded setup, for instance, changes how the revenue is divided.
Can you add Cool Lockers?
Cool Lockers are refrigerated Event Lockers for food, drinks, and medication. They run under the same service framework as standard Event Lockers. If your event has camping and you want to give festival goers a genuine cold-storage option, Cool Lockers can be added to the same agreement.
How to scope a proposal
Volt builds each proposal from event specifics: expected attendance, event duration, the mix of services (Event Lockers, charging, Cloakroom), and the branding arrangement. The earlier you engage, the better the sizing. Volt has operated at over 120 events across Europe, so data from comparable events can inform the initial estimate.

Frequently asked questions
Do I pay anything upfront for Event Lockers?
Under a standard revenue-share arrangement, no. Volt supplies the hardware and staffing; the service funds itself from the income festival goers pay for their lockers.
What if locker demand is low at my event?
Specific terms, including any minimum conditions, are set per event. Volt can advise based on comparable events in its portfolio. Contact the team before the contract is signed to understand how lower-demand scenarios are handled.
Can I combine Event Lockers with other Volt services?
Yes. Volt typically bundles Event Lockers alongside the Volt Charging Service and Cloakroom. A combined agreement simplifies logistics and is the most common setup across Volt's 120-plus European events.
Who handles on-site support for festival goers?
Volt's crew manages all on-site operations. Festival goers who lose their locker code can retrieve it from the Volt team or request a re-send via the original email or SMS.
Can I put a sponsor's branding on the lockers?
Yes. The co-branded model is designed for this. Branding can appear on the physical units and, depending on the arrangement, the booking platform as well.
