Samsø Festival 2026: dates and location
The official site lists 15 to 18 July 2026, week 29, at Strandskoven 7C, 8305 Samsø. That is Wednesday through Saturday. The festival calls itself Denmark's coziest, and the setting does a lot of that work: the site sits in Strandskoven by Ballen, according to VisitSamsø. Four days of music in a forest on an island. Hard to argue with.
Getting there: ferries and the festival bus
Samsø is an island, so every route involves a ferry. The festival's transport page lists three ways over:
- From Jutland: ferry from Hou to Sælvig.
- From Zealand: ferry from Kalundborg to Ballen.
- From Aarhus: a fast ferry from the quay at Dokk1, also landing in Sælvig.
From Sælvig there is a festival bus straight to the main entrance, timed to ferry arrivals. If you skip the bus, the nearest regular bus stop is about 1 km from the main entrance. Crossings are the one thing you cannot improvise in week 29, so book yours as soon as you have your ticket.
Event Lockers at Samsø Festival

Camping, cash and other practicals
Camping is not included in the ticket. You buy a tent spot separately, and with a four-day ticket the campsite is open from Tuesday morning until Sunday at noon, per the official camping page. Open flames and gas cylinders are banned, a shared grill area stands in for campfires, and after midnight the noise has to stay inside your own camp. Toilets are spread around the festival grounds.
The festival is cashless. Cards work at all of the festival's own stands, and you can load money onto a chip in your wristband, with leftover balance refunded after the festival (payment details).
