The best festivals in Denmark in July 2026

July is the busiest month in the Danish festival calendar. Six big ones land between the first day of the month and the last full week: Roskilde Festival, Nibe Festival, Vig Festival, Samsø Festival, Musik i Lejet, and the touring Grøn Koncert. Some are eight-day camping marathons, some are cosy island weekends, one is a bus that plays a different city every night. This is the honest rundown of what is on, when, and what each one is actually like, so you can pick the weekend that fits you.

Every date below was checked against the festival's own website. If you only want the quick version, start with the table.

Below, each one in order of when it starts.

1. Roskilde Festival

27 June – 4 July 2026 (warm-up days 27–30 June, music days 1–4 July). Roskilde, Zealand. Camping: yes.

This is the big one. Roskilde runs for eight days and pulls in more than 130,000 people, roughly a quarter of them volunteers. The first four days are warm-up: no main stage, just the camp filling up, sound systems firing, food and workshops. Then the music days hit and the site turns into one of the largest cultural gatherings in Northern Europe. It is loud, muddy or dusty depending on the year, and completely its own world for a week. If it is your first Danish festival, this is the one people mean.

Roskilde is a phone-killer. You are on your feet for days, using your phone for tickets, cash, meeting points and photos, and there is nowhere to plug in. Volt runs charging and Event Lockers across the site, plus SOUNDBOKS battery swaps and the BoogieBeam camp light for people building a proper camp. If you want your phone alive on day six, sort your charging before you arrive.

2. Nibe Festival

30 June – 3 July 2026. Skalskoven, Nibe (near Aalborg), North Jutland. Camping: yes.

Nibe calls itself Denmark's largest intimate festival, and that is a fair description. It sits in a forest right by the Limfjord, the lineup leans hard into Danish artists people actually sing along to, and the whole thing feels smaller and warmer than Roskilde without being tiny. It sells out most years because locals treat it as the summer highlight. Come for the atmosphere and the fjord swim between acts, not for a giant international bill.

Volt is not on site at Nibe, so plan your own power: bring a fully charged powerbank and a cable, and keep an eye on the festival's own facilities for storage.

3. Vig Festival

8 – 11 July 2026. Vig, Odsherred, Zealand. Camping: yes.

Vig is the family festival. It runs "for the whole family" as its own tagline puts it, with multiple stages, a big Danish pop and rock lineup, and camping areas built around the idea that you might bring the kids. It is relaxed, well organised, and a good pick if you want a real festival weekend without the endurance test that Roskilde turns into. The town of Vig is small, so the festival is the event that summer.

Volt is not at Vig in 2026. Pack a charged powerbank, and check the festival's own site for locker and storage options on the ground.

4. Samsø Festival

15 – 18 July 2026. Strandskoven, Samsø. Camping: yes.

Samsø bills itself as "Denmark's cosiest festival" and the island setting earns it. You take the ferry over, the site sits in a wood by the beach, and the whole weekend runs at island pace: swim in the morning, music in the afternoon and night, no rush anywhere. It is small enough that you keep bumping into the same faces, which is the point. If Roskilde is a marathon, Samsø is a long, good dinner with friends.

Volt runs Event Lockers here, so you can leave the ferry with a bag and not carry it all weekend. A locker gives you somewhere safe for your valuables that you open from your phone and come back to all day. Festival goers book Event Lockers online at getvolt.dk ↗ before the weekend. 5. Musik i Lejet

16 – 18 July 2026. Tisvildeleje, North Zealand. Camping: yes.

Musik i Lejet grew out of a beach party in the seaside town of Tisvildeleje and still feels like one, just much bigger. Sand underfoot, the sea a short walk away, and a lineup that punches well above the festival's size. It moved to a new, larger site for 2026, so expect more room without losing the beach-town character. This is the stylish, sun-and-sea end of the Danish July calendar, and it draws a crowd that dresses for it.

Volt is on site with Event Lockers. A locker means you can hit the beach and the stages without dragging your gear around, open and re-lock it from your phone as often as you like. Guests book Event Lockers online at getvolt.dk ↗. More detail in the Musik i Lejet lockers guide.

6. Grøn Koncert

16 – 26 July 2026. Eight cities: Tårnby (16), Kolding (17), Aarhus (18), Aalborg (19), Esbjerg (23), Odense (24), Næstved (25), Valby (26). No camping.

Grøn is the odd one out, and the best value. It is a touring one-day show that plays a different Danish city almost every night for a week and a half, with a shared lineup of big domestic pop and hip-hop names. There is no camping and no marathon, you rock up for the day in your own city and go home. It is also a charity: Grøn is run in support of Muskelsvindfonden, which works with people who have muscular dystrophy. The 2026 tour is completely sold out, so if you have a ticket, you are set.

Volt runs Event Lockers on the Grøn tour, and 25 DKK from every locker booking goes straight to Muskelsvindfonden, so leaving your bag somewhere safe also does a small bit of good. Festival goers book lockers online at getvolt.dk ↗. See the Grøn lockers guide for how it works city by city.

How to pick your July festival

If you want the full-scale, once-a-summer experience, go Roskilde. For something warmer and more Danish, Nibe. Bringing the family, Vig. Chasing island calm, Samsø. After beach and a sharp lineup, Musik i Lejet. Short on time or just want one great night in your own city, Grøn. Whichever you pick, two things kill a festival day faster than rain: a dead phone and a bag you have to carry everywhere. Sort charging and a locker where Volt is on site, and the rest of the weekend is yours.

Frequently asked questions

Which festivals are on in Denmark in July 2026?

The main ones are Roskilde Festival (27 June – 4 July), Nibe Festival (30 June – 3 July), Vig Festival (8–11 July), Samsø Festival (15–18 July), Musik i Lejet (16–18 July), and Grøn Koncert, which tours eight cities from 16 to 26 July.

Is Roskilde Festival in June or July?

Both. Roskilde 2026 runs 27 June to 4 July. The first four days (27–30 June) are warm-up days, and the main music days fall on 1–4 July, so most of the concert programme is in July.

Do Danish festivals in July have camping?

Most do. Roskilde, Nibe, Vig, Samsø and Musik i Lejet all have camping. Grøn Koncert is the exception: it is a one-day touring show with no camping, so you go home the same night.

Can you charge your phone at a Danish festival?

Where Volt is on site, yes. Volt runs charging so you can keep your phone alive for tickets, payment and photos across the weekend. At festivals without an on-site charging service, bring a fully charged powerbank and a cable.

Where can you store bags and valuables at a festival?

At Roskilde, Samsø, Musik i Lejet and on the Grøn tour, Volt runs Event Lockers you open from your phone and re-lock all day. At Samsø, Musik i Lejet and Grøn you book them online at getvolt.dk before the event.

Are Denmark's July festivals sold out?

Some sell out early. Grøn Koncert 2026 is completely sold out, and Nibe usually sells out too. Check each festival's official site for current ticket availability before you plan.
