Best Music Festivals in Sweden in Summer 2026

Sweden's festival calendar peaks in July and early August, with Sweden Rock in Norje setting the tone for rock and metal and a strong roster of folk, indie and electronic events spread across the country. Here are the events worth knowing for summer 2026, from the massive to the ones with a cult following.

1. Sweden Rock Festival, Norje: 3–6 June

Four days of rock and metal on the coast of Blekinge, roughly 180 km east of Malmö. Sweden Rock Festival is the anchor event of the Swedish festival summer, drawing over 30,000 festival goers to the village of Norje in Sölvesborg. The 2026 headliners were Iron Maiden, Volbeat and Bring Me the Horizon, supported by more than 100 bands across the long weekend, including The Offspring, BABYMETAL, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Saxon, Tom Morello, Foreigner, Helloween and Yngwie Malmsteen.

The site sits on a permanent festival ground with a well-organised camping setup, family area and glamping options. It has the infrastructure of a venue that does this every year and it shows. Volt runs Event Lockers at three locations on the grounds and self-service charging stations across the site. See the Volt Sweden Rock guide for what is available and where to find it.

Genre: Rock and metal. Dates: 3–6 June 2026 (completed). Venue: Norje, Sölvesborg. Info: swedenrock.com

2. SommarRock Svedala: 9–11 July

A three-day Swedish-language rock and pop festival held at Friluftsbadet in Svedala, just south of Malmö. SommarRock Svedala sold out for the first time in its history in 2026, a milestone the organisers noted publicly. The 2026 roster leaned on Swedish acts: The Ark, Molly Sandén, Erik Grönwall, Medina, Liar Thief Bandit and The Poodles, among others.

The festival has a family-friendly, community feel. It is not trying to be Glastonbury. Think summer evening at a lake with good Swedish artists and a crowd that knows every word.

Genre: Swedish rock and pop. Dates: 9–11 July 2026 (completed, sold out). Venue: Friluftsbadet, Svedala. Info: sommarrock.nu

3. Norbergfestival, Norberg: 9–11 July

Held at Mimerlaven, an abandoned iron mine site in the small town of Norberg in Västmanland, Norbergfestival is the standout event in Sweden for experimental electronic music and sound art. The 2026 edition ran across more than 80 artists over three days, with programming including live electronic sets, DJ nights, sound installations, workshops and curated strands: an Amplify Sápmi programme and an EMS (Elektronmusikstudion) series marking 45 years of Swedish electronic music heritage.

The setting is unlike any other festival in the country. Performances happen inside former mine shafts, on open-air stages built into the old industrial terrain, and in surrounding woods. Capacity is kept deliberately small, which creates an intimacy that larger events cannot replicate.

Genre: Experimental electronic, techno, sound art. Dates: 9–11 July 2026 (completed). Venue: Mimerlaven, Norberg. Info: norbergfestival.com

4. Storsjöyran, Östersund: 31 July–1 August

Storsjöyran is held on the shores of Lake Storsjön in Östersund, Jämtland. The two-day festival is one of the north of Sweden's biggest events. For 2026 it takes place on 31 July and 1 August, though the surrounding Krogstråket bar street opens on 24 July with nine days of free entry (paid entry on festival evenings only).

Headliners for 2026 were not confirmed through available sources at the time of writing. Check the official programme at yran.se for the current lineup and ticket links via Tickster.

The festival is set in the middle of the city, not on a peripheral field, which gives it a different atmosphere. The lake is right there.

Genre: Mixed (rock, pop, Scandinavian artists). Dates: 31 July–1 August 2026, Krogstråket from 24 July. Venue: Östersund city centre, Lake Storsjön. Info: yran.se

5. Malmöfestivalen: 7–14 August

Eight days, free entry, no ticket, no registration. Malmöfestivalen is Scandinavia's largest city festival and has run since 1985. In 2026 it runs 7–14 August across Malmö's squares, streets and parks, with close to 900 programme points covering music, dance, theatre and installations.

Confirmed acts from the first programme release include Sahara Hotnights, Einstürzende Neubauten and Ghanaian Twi-rap artist Ata Kak. The full programme was due for release in late July. Check the programme at malmofestivalen.se for the current schedule.

It costs nothing to attend. That is not a small detail.

Genre: Mixed (rock, pop, world, experimental). Dates: 7–14 August 2026. Venue: City-wide, Malmö. Entry: Free, no registration required. Info: malmofestivalen.se

6. Way Out West, Gothenburg: 13–15 August

Way Out West takes place at Slottsskogen, the large urban park in central Gothenburg. The 2026 edition runs 13–15 August and has three of the stronger headline bookings in Sweden this summer: Gorillaz, The Cure and Lorde. The wider lineup includes Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The xx, Four Tet, Moby and Lykke Li.

The festival runs a 100% vegetarian food offering, one of the few events at this scale that does. After the park closes each evening, Stay Out West moves programming into Gothenburg's city centre venues for a club night programme.

Tickets are available at wayoutwest.se. Check that page for current availability; the festival typically sells out in advance.

Genre: Indie, alternative, electronic. Dates: 13–15 August 2026. Venue: Slottsskogen, Gothenburg. Info: wayoutwest.se

7. Lollapalooza Stockholm: 14–16 August

Lollapalooza Stockholm returns to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium on 14–16 August 2026. The full lineup had not been officially confirmed at the time of writing. Check lollastockholm.com for artist announcements and ticket details as they are released.

The stadium location puts it in central Stockholm with good transport links, which makes logistics simpler than most festival sites.

Genre: Mixed (pop, rock, electronic). Dates: 14–16 August 2026. Venue: Stockholm Olympic Stadium. Info: lollastockholm.com

Practical notes

Most Swedish festivals have bag policies and restrictions on brought-in food and drink. Check the official page for each event before you arrive. Charging infrastructure varies widely between sites. Some larger events have self-service charging stations on site; smaller ones leave festival goers to manage their own power through the weekend.

Volt provides charging services and Event Lockers at a range of festivals across Scandinavia. Check resources.getvolt.dk for service information at specific events.
