Stockholm Roots Festival, Stockholm: 21 to 23 August

Stockholm Roots Festival turns the Debaser Strand venue at Hornstulls Strand into a three-day event across four stages, working the borderland between Americana, country, folk and rock. The 2026 bill includes Nick Lowe, The White Buffalo and James McMurtry, alongside a Local Fair of crafts, vinyl and food, confirmed on the venue's own event page.

Rootsy Summer Fest, Falkenberg: 21 to 23 August

Baltic Sea Festival, Stockholm: 21 to 29 August

The odd one out on this list by genre: the Baltic Sea Festival (Östersjöfestivalen) fills Berwaldhallen and other Stockholm venues for nine days of orchestral concerts, chamber music, choral works and jazz, described by the festival itself as spanning "the intimate to the monumental." Göteborg Brinner, Gothenburg: 22 August

At the other end of the spectrum, In Flames' new one-day festival Göteborg Brinner takes over the Frihamnen harbour district with a metal bill headlined by In Flames themselves, alongside Avatar, Dark Tranquillity, Raised Fist and Napalm Death. Göteborgskalaset, Gothenburg: 27 to 30 August

Gothenburg's own free city festival, Göteborgskalaset, spreads across Götaplatsen, Avenyn and the city centre for four days with no ticket required, confirmed on the organisers' own site. Eksjö Stadsfest, Eksjö: 28 to 29 August

Inland in Småland, Eksjö Stadsfest turns the medieval town's square into seven stages for a weekend, run by the non-profit Fiesta Eksjö since 2008. The festival's own lineup page lists acts spanning hip-hop, soul and circus performance, a small-town programme built to fill every stage rather than chase one genre.

Supertraditional Festival, Stockholm: 12 September

The season's late finale is a genuinely new event: Supertraditional Festival debuts at Skansen's Galejan stage, built around Swedish and Nordic folk music meeting rock, ambient and club sound. The organisers, record label Supertraditional and promoter Luger, describe it as a place where tradition and experiment coexist, with a lineup led by The Tallest Man on Earth, Sara Parkman and Valkyrien Allstars.
