Nordic summer festivals 2026: DK, SE, NO and FI

Nineteen of the biggest Nordic summer festivals in 2026 run from early June to late August across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The season opens with Sweden Rock Festival on 3 to 6 June and closes with Blockfest in Tampere on 21 to 22 August, and it takes in metal on a Copenhagen shipyard, a beach party in Kristiansand, and Roskilde, one of Northern Europe's largest festivals, in between.

1. Copenhell

24 to 27 June 2026 · Refshaleøen, Copenhagen

Four days of heavy metal on a former industrial island, running since 2010. It is a city festival, so most people sleep at home or in a hotel and come back each day. That is a lot of trips through the gate with a phone doing double duty as ticket and camera. 2. Tinderbox

25 to 27 June 2026 · Tusindårsskoven, Odense

Odense's big pop and electronic weekend in the Thousand Year Forest, built around the Magicbox dance stage. It runs as a day festival with no on-site camping, so most people come in for the day and head back at night. If you are travelling for it, it is worth knowing where you can top up a phone that is doing tickets, maps and photos all day.

3. Roskilde Festival

27 June to 4 July 2026 · Dyrskuepladsen, Roskilde

One of Northern Europe's largest festivals and a full week once you count the warm-up camping days before the main music. It is a proper live-in festival: tents, camps, and everything you own in a bag for eight days. 4. Musik i Lejet

16 to 18 July 2026 · Tisvildeleje

5. GRØN

16 to 26 July 2026 · touring eight Danish cities

Not one festival but a travelling one-day show that hits eight cities across ten days, run by Tuborg and Muskelsvindfonden with all proceeds going to muscular dystrophy work. 6. Smukfest

2 to 9 August 2026, check-in from 31 July · Skanderborg

Denmark's second largest, set in a beech forest outside Skanderborg and nicknamed the most beautiful festival. It is a full week with camping that fills up early. Sweden

Sweden runs from a legendary hard-rock weekend in the south to a film-and-music festival in a Gothenburg park, with a big-name city festival in Stockholm in between.

7. Sweden Rock Festival

3 to 6 June 2026 · Norje, Sölvesborg

One of the world's best known hard rock, metal and blues festivals, held near the coast in Sölvesborg with four days of music and a big camping scene. 8. Lollapalooza Stockholm

1 to 3 July 2026 · Gärdet, Stockholm

The Swedish edition of the global brand, three days on the open Gärdet field in central Stockholm with a lineup that runs past 80 artists. It is a city festival with no camping, so the crowd commutes in each day across a big, open site where a dead phone makes meeting up a real hassle.

9. SommarRock Svedala

9 to 11 July 2026 · Friluftsbadet, Svedala

10. Way Out West

13 to 15 August 2026 · Slottsskogen, Gothenburg

Norway

11. Piknik i Parken

11 to 13 June 2026 · Sofienbergparken, Oslo

An early-summer, sit-on-the-grass festival in a leafy Oslo park, with an indie and pop lineup and a genuinely calm picnic feel. It is a compact city festival, easy to do from home, and one of the gentler ways to start a Nordic festival summer.

12. Tons of Rock

24 to 27 June 2026 · Ekebergsletta, Oslo

Norway's largest rock and metal festival, four days on the Ekebergsletta field above Oslo with more than 60 bands across six stages and Iron Maiden on the 2026 bill. It runs without a festival campsite, so most of the crowd travels up to the field and back into Oslo each day.

13. Palmesus

26 to 27 June 2026 · Bystranda, Kristiansand

Scandinavia's largest beach festival, two days of dance and pop right on the sand at Bystranda in Kristiansand. Sun, sea and a phone you keep pulling out for photos is a fast way to hit 2 percent by mid-afternoon.

14. Øyafestivalen

12 to 15 August 2026 · Tøyenparken, Oslo

Norway's biggest festival, around 60,000 people a day in Tøyenparken for a curated international lineup, with The Cure headlining in 2026. It is a city park festival with no camping, so most of the crowd commutes in daily. That means plenty of phone use for tickets and transport, and a good reason to plan charging.

Finland

Finland spreads its big weekends from Seinäjoki to an island in Turku to the Helsinki waterfront, covering rock, pop, metal and the biggest hip-hop festival in the Nordics.

15. Provinssi

25 to 27 June 2026 · Törnävänsaari, Seinäjoki

21 to 22 August 2026 · Ratina, Tampere

The largest hip-hop festival in the Nordics, two 18-plus days at Tampere's Ratina stadium and event park. It closes out the Nordic summer season in late August.
