7 Scandinavian Festivals Worth Booking After Smukfest

Smukfest wrapped its final day in the Skanderborg beech forest on August 9. Sommarrock Svedala in Sweden and the Hellsinki Metal Festival are already done for the year too. If you're not ready to let the summer's festival run end, seven more events across Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland are still worth booking, running from mid-August through early September 2026. Some are camping festivals, some are city stages with no tent required, and Volt already has confirmed lockers at one of them.

1. Wonderfestiwall, Bornholm, Denmark (Aug 13-16)

Wonderfestiwall runs on the island of Bornholm, in sight of the Hammershus ruins. Two camping options are on offer: Campingpladsen for guests bringing their own tent (three plot sizes, sold separately from the festival ticket) and the pre-pitched Camping+ area with cabins and tipis, both detailed on the festival's own practical info page. As of this week, full multi-day passes are sold out and only a handful of single-day tickets remain, per the festival's own ticket page, so this is one to move on quickly if you're going. 2. Way Out West, Gothenburg, Sweden (Aug 13-15)

Way Out West takes over Slottsskogen park in central Gothenburg and has been a fully vegetarian festival since 2012, per the festival's own site. Three-day passes are sold out, but the ticket page currently still lists single-day standard and VIP tickets for individual days. No on-site camping: this is a city-park festival, so plan Gothenburg accommodation instead.

3. Flow Festival, Helsinki, Finland (Aug 14-16)

Flow runs in Helsinki's Suvilahti district, an old power-plant site turned festival ground, and is 18+ only with gate sales unavailable (tickets go through Ticketmaster or Tiketti in advance), per the festival's own site. Availability shifts by day: the ticket page currently shows Friday and Saturday single-day tickets sold out, with Sunday tickets and some 2-day and 3-day combinations still open. 4. Pstereo, Trondheim, Norway (Aug 21-22)

Pstereo takes place at Marinen, a riverside green space on the Nidelva in central Trondheim, in view of Nidaros Cathedral, per the festival's own site. It's an 18+ event with no guardian exceptions, per the official FAQ, and tickets are open for purchase through the festival's own ticket page. No camping is listed for this one either: it's a city festival, so budget for a place to stay in Trondheim.

5. Tønder Festival, Tønder, Denmark (Aug 26-29)

Tønder Festival, Denmark's long-running roots and folk music festival, runs its four days in the town of Tønder. As of this week, most tickets are sold out or close to it per the festival's own ticket page: the 4-day pass and Friday are both sold out, Saturday has only a few tickets left, and Wednesday and Thursday day tickets are still open. Most camping areas are also sold out, with the "Industrien" area, which has an electricity option, the one still showing availability. 6. Aarhus Festuge, Aarhus, Denmark (Aug 28-Sep 6)

Aarhus Festuge turns the whole city into a venue: streets, parks, museums, squares and empty buildings host concerts, theatre, art and food events for ten days, per VisitAarhus. Many events are free and outdoors, though some ticketed performances are mixed in, so it's the one festival on this list you can show up to without buying anything in advance. No camping (it's a city-wide program, not a fenced site), so this is one for city-stage nights rather than a tent.

7. Festningen, Trondheim, Norway (Sep 4-5)

Festningen closes out this run at Kristiansten Fortress in Trondheim, per the festival's own site. It's an urban fortress venue with no camping.
